Schools Outreach
Aberdeen Schools Rowing Association (ASRA) provides equipment and coaching for both rowing and sculling, for young people up to the age of nineteen, whether or not they are involved in full-time education. Our current membership is drawn predominantly from North East secondary schools and we work with schools to provide a variety of services aimed at promoting healthy activity and the sport of rowing.
All coaching is carried out by British and/or Scottish Rowing accredited coaches. ASRA is affiliated to Scottish Rowing, and is a registered service provider to both Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City Councils.
Rowers and qualified coaches are covered for personal accident and third party liability on payment of the annual Rowing Licence fee to Scottish Rowing. ASRA’s Child Wellbeing and Protection Policy, along with its Safety Policy, can be found on the Governance section of this site.
There are two distinct elements to what ASRA can offer your school. These are:
Rowing machine (ergo) based, indoor rowing at your school or in the ASRA boathouse.
Boat based, rowing from the ASRA boathouse on the River Dee.
