Organization & Governance
Aberdeen Schools Rowing Association Charitable Trust (ASRA CT) is a registered charity (number SC029743) set up for the specific charitable purposes of the promotion and encouragement of physical development of children, or young persons in full-time education, by providing facilities for junior rowing in the Aberdeen area. It is governed by a Board of Trustees which is responsible for the boathouse infrastructure, purchase of equipment, the employment of coaching staff and the financial management that underpins the running of the club that delivers the charitable purposes.
Aberdeen Schools Rowing Association (ASRA) is the club. The ASRA Committee is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the club - for the wellbeing and protection of our members, their safety, the training programme and camps, competition entry and logistics, volunteering, boathouse and equipment maintenance, and social and fund raising events.
Athlete Wellbeing and Protection
At ASRA we want rowing to be a positive experience for everybody. All those involved in the organization and operation of the club are committed to ensuring our sport is safe, fair and respectful for all participants.
In pursuit of this, ASRA has policies, procedures, guidelines and codes of conduct which set out how we mitigate our risks of harm and help us recognize our role in safeguarding all children involved in rowing and protecting them from all forms of abuse.
The principles underpinning these documents are:
The wellbeing of children and young people is our primary concern.
It is everyone’s responsibility to promote and safeguard the wellbeing of children.
All children have the right to protection from all forms of harm, poor practice and abuse.
Children have the right to express views on all matters which affect them, should they wish to do so.
ASRA is committed to working in partnership with children and parents to promote the wellbeing, health and development of children.
If you have concerns for the wellbeing or safety of a child, young person or adult, or someone raises a concern with you, please report these immediately. You can do this by emailing cwpo@asra-rowing.co.uk.
Equality and Inclusion
Everyone at ASRA is committed to building a culture that values diversity and champions inclusion.
We will achieve this by:
creating an environment where bullying and discrimination are not tolerated, that promotes dignity and respect for all, and where members, volunteers and coaches are valued for their contribution;
raising awareness of our collective and individual responsibilities through our Codes of Conduct;
demonstrating our commitment through leadership;
reviewing our performance and acting on our findings.
